Wiley’s catch of the day!

Australia’s premier privately owned salmon aquaculture company, Huon Aquaculture Group Pty Ltd (Huon) have engaged Wiley to design and construct a new $10 million salmon processing facility at their Parramatta Creek site in Tasmania.

On site works will incorporate a new value added process facility, an upgrade of the existing process facility and new office and amenities to cater for 100 employees.

The Federal Government has announced that a $3.5 million grant has been awarded to Huon as part of the forest peace deal.

Peter Bullock, Business Development Manager at Wiley, said “This is a fantastic result and is the culmination of 18 months of intense collaboration with the Huon team working together on the conceptual design. The result is a world class facility that will consolidate all their processing on one site and maximise throughputs and efficiencies.”

“Further to the work (Wiley) did for Huon in 2010, it is exciting to now be engaged in the significant second stage of development at this site. The design brief was to deliver a ‘future proof’ facility with everything designed to be further expanded as the client grows in the future.” said Mr Bullock.

Commencement of works is scheduled to begin immediately with the project planned for completion by December 2014.
